UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES - ADMISSION

Admission to the Landscape Architecture Program has been restricted since 1975. Undergraduate students wishing to gain entrance to the Program must submit an application and portfolio directly to the department Advising Office during the spring quarter prior to the year of participating in upper division Landscape Architecture coursework. Most often that means that the portfolio is submitted during a student's sophomore spring quarter and, if accepted, that student enrolls in upper division LDA coursework beginning in their junior year. If an applicant is not already enrolled at UC Davis, he or she must make a simultaneous application to the Undergraduate Admissions Office according to standard campus format. Portfolio applications to the Program are reviewed by landscape architecture faculty members. Criteria for evaluation include:

a) The student's personal philosophical statement and understanding of landscape architecture,
b) Potential to creatively solve problems, think and conceptualize in three-dimensions, and communicate graphically and verbally.

The capacity of the program is based upon a maximum of 38 students in each class level (sophomore, junior, senior).
